Why work for free

From French “volunteer” is translated - volunteer. Anyone who consciously and selflessly works for the benefit of others can call himself a volunteer. Anyone who is willing to devote his time and skills to voluntary work in any area of public life, where necessary, can become a volunteer.
What for

But why do people voluntarily spend their time and effort without any financial gain? First of all, the most important motivation is the desire to help others, to make this world or someone’s specific life better. And combining business with pleasure is doubly good. As a volunteer, you can learn new things, improve your skills and gain very useful experience that you may not find in any paid work. It is also a great way to meet new people, visit new places and instill universal values into your own examples.

Volunteering does not have to take all your time. Often people cannot realize all their desires and needs, working only by profession. Voluntary work can bring diversity to life, allowing you to escape from everyday routine.
Volunteering and employment

Volunteers are not always - they are pure altruists. As we have already said, besides everything, this is a great way to gain new experience, skills, knowledge, useful connections. Volunteering is often the way to a successful career. Here you can always prove your best side, try yourself in various professional fields, decide on your life path.

In foreign companies, writing a resume on volunteering is a powerful argument in favor of the candidate. In Ukrainian companies, this practice is also gaining momentum. After all, if the candidate was engaged in volunteer activities, you can be sure of his active life position, positive human qualities, love of work. Such workers are always valuable. In addition, you can always count on recommendations from the coordinator, which will also be a good plus for employment.

For young people, volunteering can be a starting point in professional life. They will be able to gain experience interacting with other people, learn how to bear responsibility and will be able to determine their next steps.
Voluntary work in the world and Ukraine

The volunteer movement in many countries of the world is extremely popular. In a conscious society, there are always people for whom work for the benefit of others is a way of self-realization and self-improvement.

According to recent studies, in Europe 23% of the population is involved in volunteering, in the USA - 26%, in Australia 36% of the population are engaged in voluntary work. In Ukraine, so far only 10% of the population had experience of volunteering. The number is small, but every year the number of volunteers is growing.

Examples of well-known volunteer actions in Ukraine.

The Dnepropetrovsk animal welfare society “Fidelity” on a voluntary basis annually saves and finds a new home for more than 1000 homeless and abandoned animals.
Over the past year, the All-Ukrainian Volunteer Center "Search for Missing Children" helped find more than 350 children throughout Ukraine.
Volunteering does not necessarily imply a long or permanent period of employment. It can be one-day voluntary actions. For example, in 2013, the action “Let's Make Ukraine Clean!” Gathered more than 140 thousand volunteers who once went out to clean streets in 380 cities of Ukraine. And there are a lot of such examples.

Remember, each of us is capable of making life better. Everyone has such an opportunity. Who knows, maybe volunteering will be your entry ticket to work for the benefit of others and ourselves.
